Welcome to the Torrance, California city page.
Historical Facts: Torrance was part of the massive Rancho San Pedro Spanish land grant, which was issued to Juan Jose Dominguez and signed by King Carlos III of Spain. Jared Sidney Torrance and other real estate developers saw true value creating a mixed industrial-residential community in the Torrance valley. They purchased part of the Spanish land and hired very famous landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted to design a new planned community. The town of Torrance was well planned and named after its founder.
