Welcome to the Pasadena, California city page.

Historical Facts: The Postmaster General wanted a name fitting for the new town of Pasadena. The first settlers recommended three names and put them up for a vote. The first was Indianola, the second was Granada, both having a Spanish influence. The third was four names from the local Indian tribe that translated into “Crown of the Valley,” “Key of the Valley,” “Valley of the Valley,” and “Hill of the Valley.” The four names ended in “pa-sa-de-na (of the valley)”. The name Pasadena was put to a vote and then incorporated as the second municipality of Los Angeles County, after Los Angeles.
